Hey! So this blog is long overdue and I cannot wait to share my favourite restaurants and bars in my favourite city (I’m bias) of all time. From 16 years of age I started to get to know the city quite well but since going to Man Met uni, it opened even more of Manchester up to me and I have so many places to share.
1) Moose Coffee – This place might have to be my FAVOURITE breakfast/brunch place of all time. I am a pancake lover, and have tried and tested a lot of pancake houses and even tried to recreate the fluffy American-style ones at home but these are something else. Their portion sizes on all their dishes are incredible and the flavour of everything I have tried so far is immense as well. Although this restaurant is a chain, the food and service really stands out to me in the Manchester ones.

2) Manchester Christmas markets – Now obviously this is a seasonal option but I have had some of the nicest food here. From the pork and apple butties to paella or chocolate covered strawberries, you really can’t go wrong. I’m not entirely sure whether the markets will be on this year considering we’re still going through a pandemic but I beg whoever hasn’t been to the Manchester markets you must!

3) Almost famous – Another chain but in two great locations and some Unreal burgers. One of their restaurants is in the Northern Quarter, and the other is at the Great Northern warehouse. Every time I have had one of these burgers I end up feeling physically sick after but it’s so worth it. Both locations are great as well as they are well situated near bars for a drink before or after!

4) Rudy’s Neapolitan Pizza – Best pizza ever. That’s it. This place has the best woodfired pizzas I have ever tried and it’s so cheap! It’s got a really rustic vibe and a chilled atmosphere. Like Almost Famous it’s in a great location as it’s right next to Albert Schloss, an amazing bar.

5) Albert Schloss – As I have just mentioned, this place is such a good bar and it’s probably my favourite bar in Manchester when it’s not rammed full of people. The food is also really good here and I definitely recommend getting a range of starters and sides to nibble on as they’re so good! I’ve also heard good things about their roasts but I am yet to try one.

6) Evuna tapas bar – This place holds a special place in my heart. Firstly because I have been here so many times with my best friend and it’s our go to restaurant in Manchester but secondly, the paprika chicken. There’s a lot of tapas bars around Manchester but I really think this one stays true to real Spanish tapas. If I can recommend anything it would be the paprika chicken and the lamb skewers.

7) Dirty Martini for bottomless brunch – for one of my besties birthdays we went here for a boozy brunch and the food was surprisingly 10/10! I loved how they displayed it on a sort of cage/rack but the food really stood out to me. It’s a great place at night as well as there’s a bar upstairs and a club downstairs so such a good place for a girly day/night out.

8) Luck, Lust, Liquor & Burn – Situated in the Northern Quarter, this little place has some of the best Mexican food I’ve tried. The halloumi fries are a must have and their burritos are so packed full of goodness you feel like you might burst after.

9) Rosso Restaurant – Famous for being Rio Ferdinand’s restaurant, this Italian has some great dishes. I went here for my 21’st with my besties and had one of the best pasta dishes of my life, yes my life. For reference it was truffle tortellini with a chicken jus and crispy chicken skin, amazing.

10) Federal Café – Apart from Moose Coffee, this is another really great brunch spot. There’s two in Manchester and its an Australian café. The banana bread is that good that during lockdown, they posted the recipe on Instagram and I recreated it at home and it was epic.

So I hope you enjoyed this post as much as I did writing it (and looking through all my pictures of food I have took in the past 3 years). I’m going to do a part two of this as this post covers the city centre but I want to do another covering Greater Manchester restaurants that I love as well! Thanks for reading, Nat x
