Hey guys! I wanted to chat about how I am trying to add small changes into my life to be more sustainable. We all know the current climate we are living in right now, especially those in New York who have to walk past the giant timer on the Metronome that tells us how long the earth has left. Here’s the thing, there’s a lot of pressure on us all to do the biggest and best grand gestures in order to help save the planet but I think you just have to take it one bit at a time.
It’s become a bit of a ‘thing’ for influencers to get bashed or receive hate over so many nit-picky subjects like them using a plastic bottle, eating meat or anything that could be deemed as ‘wrong’ in our society right now. Influencers are very easily scrutinised because people think they can comment on anything they do due to them putting *parts* of their lives on Instagram but this isn’t okay!
For me, I try my best to consume less meat products but I hate the taste of most non-dairy milks! I’m not judged for this and I’d hope that nobody else would be, but unfortunately we live in a digital age of trolls of hate comments. At the end of the day, you can eat and do what you like and that should be allowed but it’s nice to see influencers and celebrities use their platforms to promote sustainability as well. Yasmin Johal (@yasminjohalx) on Instagram is a really great example of someone who promotes healthy lifestyle choices that also help our climate, and there is so many more people out there using their platforms positively to show how easy being sustainable can be!
Today’s post will just be a small run through of how I’m beginning to make small changes in my life to help save our planet.
So I was kindly gifted a reusable razor by HeyEstrid which I’ve wanted to try for so long! I’ve heard such good things about their brand and what their brand represents. Not only does this brand self-love and body positivity (yay), but they also promote sustainability through the razor being cruelty-free and reusable which I just love. It’s a really easy way of helping just even a little bit as us women use razors like they’re going out of fashion, well I did anyway (apart from Winter when shaving is a none existing concept). They have such lovely pastel colours available and it comes with its on little holder to put onto your shower door. This month they are donating money towards Pink Ribbon for breast cancer awareness which I think is amazing. I just think this brand is great!

Next up is another item I got gifted recently which I’ve been using everyday since receiving it. It’s the Hydrte bottle which is a sleek, convenient water bottle that is a great option for someone who is looking not only for an option to not buy single use plastic bottles everyday but also for fashion purposes as this bottle is so chic! I love the design of this bottle so much as the design makes it really easy to hold, especially with the rubber grip on the middle! Another great brand, and a great way to become more sustainable by supporting small businesses.

A purchase I have made twice now in the last 6 months has been reusable makeup remover pads from Amazon. They come in a pack of 3 usually and they are a sort of plush material that literally wipe your makeup clean off. I still go in with one cotton pad of micellar water after (currently on the hunt for some reusable cotton pads) but that’s all I need.
I have also being trying to shop a little less with fast fashion brands. I can’t help myself with H&M and Zara recently as they are really providing the goods!! However I am trying to avoid ASOS and Amazon as much as I can as it’s so easy to get sucked into a deep dark hole of buying copious amounts of tat. I also avoid online shops like misguided, PLT or places like that as I just don’t like the quality of their clothes and the mass producing they do. Last week I purchased an amazing trench coat off Depop and it was only £16! I think if you know what you’re doing on second-hand websites like Depop or eBay, you can find some really great bits.

Like I said, I’m no expert and far from perfect as I still eat animal products and I’m a sucker for clothes but I think small changes like these make you feel like you’re doing some good for the world without feeling too overwhelmed with pressure.
Thanks for reading, I hope I gave you some inspiration to shop a little bit more sustainable or at least something to think about!
